FAQs EAP Clients

How many sessions do I have?

This is dependent on the EAP company who referred you, though most offer between four and six sessions.

Are sessions face to face or remote?

I receive EAP referrals from all over the UK so most will be remote however, if you are close enough to travel to the clinic then face to face is certainly an option!

Do I pay for sessions?

No, all sessions are paid for by your employer. You do not have to pay and be reimbursed and I will not ask for any payments or deposits.

Can I have more sessions?

EAP is short term therapy meaning there is little scope for more sessions. This something we discuss in session and I can offer information on how to search for private therapist if you wish to carry on with therapy outside of EAP.

Can I work privately with you after our EAP sessions end?

Most EAP companies do not allow therapists to take EAP clients to their private practice and this is reflected in our contract. This is to prevent unscrupulous counsellors (of which I hope there are very few!) soliciting clients through EAP. However be reassured that I will offer information on how to search for a new therapist if you wish to continue your counselling journey.

What is the point if I only have six sessions?

A lot can be achieved in a short space of time; though short term isn’t suitable for working through trauma or childhood issues for example, it offers a breathing space for you to work through issues in the here and now like issues at work or struggling with anxiety. It can also be a great holding space until you can access longer term therapy if you need it.
